Coach Development Officer

Without knowledgeable, competent, and educated coaches, your club is going to struggle to manage and develop players.  Who takes care of your club’s coach development and educational needs? We can supply your club with a Coach Development Officer to lead the coach education and development strategy. There are several ways to implement this process. Coach Education Talks

Not all content for coaches and players can be covered on the pitch; some content needs to be offered off the field in a classroom environment. Our coach education and training can be completed online or face-to-face. 

We offer the following coach education 2-hour talks, or you can book us to complete the FAOI Coach Development Course (12-hour course total – 6 modules x   2 hours per module):

  • Nutrition and hydration
  • Sports psychology
  • Football periodisation
  • Physical conditioning for players
  • Sports leadership
  • Goal setting and time management

All our talks and courses are Football Academy of Ireland certified.

Please note: A club must book the coach education talk or course for their club coachesWe require a minimum of 12 coaches to book a course

An individual coach cannot book a course as we require a minimum of 12 coaches to run a talk or course. All talk/courses are delivered at your club venue or appropriate club-approved facility.

Frequently Asked Questions

A good rule of thumb for a coach is to complete 1 to 2 hours per month. This could be a monthly meeting or a bi-monthly 2-hour workshop. Over the duration of a season, if a coach completed 8-12 hours of coaching, this would be very beneficial to both the coach and the club. 

The club can ask coaches what they would like covered by using a survey or questionnaire. The club can gauge the interest levels and topics that are desired to be covered.

Your club should have a Coach Development Officer to take care of all the formal and informal educational needs of every individual coach and volunteer within the club's structure. The club has an obligation to support the needs and the development of the club. 

Having the necessary experience and qualifications for this role is vital.
